Join women around the world to mark the United Nations International Day to End Violence Against Women – and take back your night.
Bring banners, flags, whistles – all are welcome but please let us know if you are coming. Details are below:
6.00 pm: Gather at Old Eldon Square, Blackett Street, Newcastle, NE1 7LD
6.30pm: Walk up Northumberland Street led by the Bangshees, community-based all-women drumming group turning right on Northumberland Road, past the City Hall and into the Sutherland Building for speeches and light refreshments
Speakers include:
- Louise Atkinson, National Education Union – speaking about sexual harassment and violence in schools
- Chi Onwurah MP for Newcastle upon Tyne Central
- Sara Muzzafar, Samosa Sisters
- Speaker from Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland
