TUC Education taster sessions for UNISON members and activists: These sessions will be delivered at UNISON Northern Regional Office, participants can attend one or both sessions, a light lunch will be provided between the sessions.
Session 1 – Disability Awareness
Time
11am – 12pm
It is estimated that there are over 5 million disabled people of working age in the UK plus a further 5 million disabled people over state pension age, but the term ‘disabled’ means different things to different people. The range and breadth of impairments that we all come across in our everyday lives is substantial
This short taster course will give you an awareness of Disability and understand the legislation around disability awareness.
Session 2 – Depression Awareness
Time
1pm – 2pm
Depression is the predominant mental health problem worldwide, followed by anxiety, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. This taster session will give you an awareness of the signs and symptoms of depression.
The taster session will cover:
- An awareness of depression
- An understanding of supporting a person with depression
