Human Factors – What Trade Union representatives need to know.
If you represent members in internal disciplinary hearings and want to effectively challenge investigation findings, and at the same time promote positive changes in the workplace that will benefit our workforce, then you need to know about Human Factors, the approach that all health service and professional regulatory bodies advocate.
If you are involved in Health & Safety and want to know more about how other safety critical industries approach effective learning from incidents and accidents, leading to the development of safer workplaces and a just culture, then you need to know about Human Factors influenced investigations.
The aims of the sessions are as follows:
- To introduce the basic principles of Human Factors
- To examine why competent people make errors
- To look at how employers are expected to use human factors influenced design in processes, procedures and equipment to help our members to avoid error
- To learn how Human Factors influenced investigations can lead to a more comprehensive understanding of errors and make a key contribution to effective learning from errors and a just culture.
