UNISON Northern Higher Education Service Group sends a message of support to UCU in their ongoing strike action for Pay and Pensions. UNISON Northern Higher Education Chair Neil Bellamy Said;
“Our members have suffered below inflation pay rises for too long. We fully support our colleagues in UCU in their action on pay and to protect Fair Pensions for Higher Education workers.”
UNISON members are encouraged to;
- Visit picket lines – at Newcastle and Durham University every strike day
- Attend the regional rally – details to be circulated
- UNISON Branches are encouraged to donate to the UCU strike hardship fund.
Advice to Members:
UNISON members should not take on any additional responsibilities being given to them directly as a result of the UCU industrial action. Staff should not be moved from the duties they would normally have carried out in order to cover the work of striking colleagues and frustrate the industrial action of UCU. Members who are under pressure to cover should contact their UNISON rep, branch or region for further advice and support.
