The course is appropriate for Disabled Members Branch Officers or Contacts and for UNISON disabled members and activists who want to find out more about getting active in the branch and disabled member organisation in UNISON.

Course aims:

  • To define the role of a Disabled Members Branch Officer or Contact
  • To establish how to access disabled members resources
  • To establish how to make useful links and develop strategies for supporting disabled members in their branches
  • To consider how to campaign and get equality issues on the recruitment and bargaining agenda
  • To build a network of Disabled Member Officers who can support and advise each other
